New Restaurant Opening: Intoku Reading

By Liv, DMT Collaborator on 17th January 2022 in Blog

After so much hard work and excitement, the team are proud to announce our newest venture: Intoku Reading!

It’s been so hard to keep this a secret for so long, but now we can’t wait to tell you everything we can about our plans…

Reading Decor

Intoku Windsor keeps it cute with a sushi cafe and pink Japanese sakura theme, and Intoku Chelsea keeps it clean-cut and luxurious with leafy walls and gold accents. For Intoku Reading, we decided to mix things up with something different entirely.

Our latest decor is inspired by Asian street art, with edgy alternative accents. Almost every wall will be covered in brightly coloured illustrations, installed courtesy of Artithology Interior and Exterior Landscapes. Here’s a sneak peek of construction in action:

As for the dining experience in Reading, we decided to take a different approach too. Rather than a standard sit-down restaurant set up, we’re constructing an open kitchen. This will add a sense of showmanship to every meal, with diners able to watch their food being prepared by expert chefs who treat the cooking performance like an art.

Reading Menu

Menu-wise, you’ll still be able to sample our famous freshly-made sushi, but it will also be accompanied by donburi.

If you’re unfamiliar, the word ‘donburi’ literally translates from Japanese as ‘bowl’. It essentially functions as a catch-all term for a variety of rice bowl dishes. The main structure consists of vegetables, seafood, fish and/or eggs, cooked to perfection in flavourful seasonings and served over a steaming hot bowl of rice. Look out for a future blog giving you a full guide to donburi!

We choose donburi as the focus of our Reading restaurant as we felt it fit well with our existing Pan Asian menus and themes, providing options to cater to meat-eaters, pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans alike, as well as halal diets. We love to share the joy & flavour with everyone!

Keep your eyes on our website, the full menu will be available to view soon.

Private Hire at Reading

At Intoku, we think celebrations should be filled with friends, family, food, and fun! That’s why we’ve designed our new restaurant with an exclusive private hire area that can fit up to 10 people comfortably. Get in touch via our contact page to enquire about bookings.

Our current opening date goal is somewhere in the second week of February, but keep up to date with the latest on our social media to be one of the first customers through the door!
